HTC Touch Diamond 2!
sometime during the night between monday and tuesday I ordered my HTC Touch Diamond 2 and it arrived 20 minutes before heading to work today! :D
HTC has really done a GREAT job with this phone!
I had its precessor before, and generally liked it. It had a few weak spots;
the calendar really wasnt that usefull
the underlaying windows system seemed clumsy, when you are using the TouchFLO system
and it wasnt really that fast neither.
HTC has improved all of this and much much more!
1: the speed! – its incredible how much they have tweaked the performance! – remember, its the same processor!
2: You really have to digg in, to find the underlaying Windows OS! The TouchFLO now covers most of the interface!
3: the calendar – damn I love it already! its beats all other mobile calendars i’ve tried!
All in all, its a super phone and to all the iPhone lovers: I dont want your hyped Apple stuff! Windows Mobile is the best!
Windows 7 Enterprise – The first impression!
Windows 7 is by far the best Windows operating system ever made!
Windows 7 Enterprise edition installed on my Lenovo laptop in just 15 minutes! From boot to desktop!
The laptop has the following hardware:
- Core 2 Duo T7300 2ghz
- 4gb DDR 2 RAM
- 120 gb Western Digital HDD.
When Windows boots the first time, it had installed all my drivers except my fingerprint reader, nVidia Geforce 7600 GO Graphics and 3 chipset drivers.
All of theese drivers were downloaded using Windows update in no time and installed without any problems! less than 5 minuttes after initial boot, it was 100% up and running!
Its gonna be sweet to test the new Direct Access tools on the 14th, when Windows Server 2008 R2 is released!
Windows 7 Released!
To all with a Technet or an MSDN subscription, Windows 7 has now been released for download on MSDN and TechNet!
The download also includes the localization packs, which among others, include the Danish Translation!
Unfortunatly Windows 7 has still not reached the Windows 7 beta program on Microsoft Connect.

Microsoft has changed the download system and downloads are now way faster. Got the Ultimate disc with 3-4mbytes/sec!

Its not the fastest download speed, but then again… What to expect when everybody who has access tries to download at the same time?

Facebook developer toolkit!
Earlier today I was looking for a good set of facebook tools, for either C# or Delphi to develope some small facebook desktop applications and fell over The ‘Facebook Developer Kit’ on CodePlex!
Apparenly the project has started, because Microsoft needed a framework for .net, which could interact with facebook, and a company named Clarity Consulting inc. got the job to develop such a toolkit for .net! Now the project is getting near to version 3.0! and the current release (2.1) works for both ASP.net applications and WinForms, and its really easy!

I made a little application, to simply connect to facebook, this is how easy it is!

The user has now authenticated with facebook! and can begin to get events and such from the user.
I wanted to get all the events, with name, event id, who planned the event and when it occurs! This was soo wasy!

currently still fooling around with the basics, but applications for this will come soon! (including sync with outlook using VSOT!)
Windows 7 officially RTMed!
At the annual sales kick-off event in Atlanta, Steven Sinofsky and Steve Ballmer officially announced that Windows 7 has Released to Manufacturing!

No official confirmation has been made yet though!

Microsoft still havent confirmed the RTM. This is probably gonna happen on the 24th!
6.1.7600.16384 might ‘just’ have been the LAST build, until the RTM.
Several blogs have been updated the last couple of days, with interesting information regarding the Microsoft build number policy
http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=2574 indicating that the RTM build, might end up being build 6.1.7600.16386 and not 384!

As the rumors have said the last couple of months, Windows 7 was planned to RTM today and MS did it right on time!
The RTM has build 6.1.7600.16384 and was digitally signed by Microsoft on the 11th at 10:40 PM!

NVIDIA Smart Scan tool
Since its been a while since I last updated my nVidia drivers (motherboard and graphics drivers) I went to the nVidia site to see if any updated drivers were available.
Checking graphics drivers were no issues, since I use a standard GeForce 8800 card.
But I decided to check for motherboarddrivers using their ‘smart scan tool’! A super tool, which should be able to detect the correct north/southbridge and then find the correct drivers. However, it didnt really do the job.
My Hardware
Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus
Northbridge: 650i
Southbridge: 570 SLI
CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600
The tool detected my southbridge as the correct, 570 SLI and because of this, it wanted me to go with the nForce 570 SLI AMD / NFP 3400 drivers. Which would be fine, if I was using the complete 570 chipset, and running AMD …
Except for this “minor” glitch, the tool works rather good and hopefully they will fix theese errors in a not too distant future! :D

Ahh, finally had the last examn this semester (friday..) and can now look forward to 10 weeks of summerbreak!
